At last! Our adventures in Phoenix begin after poor Barney's sad and unexpected end. We are looking forward to making lots of memories in our new van but it still seems very strange that we have to get used to another motorhome so soon.
We are staying at this Caravan Club certified location as we are looking after Aurora tonight when Jonny and Holly go to see comedian, Jimeoin. We have been looking for a site that is local close to Ellington so that we can stay overnight after our babysitting duties. The site has spacious pitches which are situated just off the main road near Longhirst, and less than 10 minutes away from Jonny and Holly.
Jonny picked us up in the afternoon and we had some quality time with Aurora. She is talking so well now and is great company. Jonny and Holly treat us to a Chinese takeaway, and we left instructions about cooking tea for Aurora, and the bathtime routine. Aurora was a bit anxious when Mum and Dad weren't around for bedtime but she was happy to be comforted by us and soon fell asleep. Jonny dropped us back off at the site and we slept well.
Today Jonny picked us up and took us to Ellington where Holly cooked us a lovely breakfast. We are spending the day with them again today which was unexpected but lovely. They are going to Disneyland Paris later this week so we took Aurora to the local park so that Holly could get their packing done. It was cold today! We looked at the daffodils on the way back, and popped into the Co-op so that Aurora could choose some flowers to take home - she hung onto a bunch of purple tulips for Holly all the way home. After playing games and reading books, Aurora and Kevin both fell asleep before we all went to Whitley Bay for fish and chips. It's tiring work being a grandparent you know! We hadn't been to Whitley Bay since the Spanish City dome and fairground were redeveloped and it was a nice treat. We could remember playing there many years ago when there was a ballroom there. Afterwards we were dropped back at the van for the night and will head home tomorrow. We have had such a lovely weekend - it is always good to spend quality time with Jonny, Holly and Aurora as we don't get to see them as often as we'd like to so we really value the time we have together with them all.
